Intercom integration

This guide will walk you through the process of connecting your Intercom account to Ferndesk. This integration allows Fern to auto-update your help center using closed conversations from Intercom.

Before you begin: You will need an active Intercom account to complete this integration. If you don't have one, you can create one on the Intercom website.

Step 1: Navigate to Integrations

Go to the Integrations page in your Ferndesk dashboard and click on the "Support" tab.

Step 2: Find and Connect Intercom

Locate the Intercom integration card and click the "Connect" button.

Step 3: Confirm Connection

A dialog will appear asking you to confirm the connection. Click the "Connect" button in the modal to proceed.

Step 4: Authorize on Intercom

You will be redirected to Intercom to authorize the connection. Log in to your Intercom account if you are not already logged in, then follow the on-screen instructions to grant Ferndesk permission to access your Intercom conversations.

Ferndesk requests read access to your closed conversations. This allows Fern to learn from your support interactions and automatically update your help center.

Step 5: Return to Ferndesk

Once you have authorized the connection, you will be redirected back to Ferndesk. The Intercom card will now show a green badge indicating a successful connection, and the button will change to "Manage connections".

Once connected, Fern will automatically sync closed conversations from Intercom to keep your help center up to date.

Managing Your Connection

To view or remove your Intercom connection, click "Manage connections" on the Intercom card. This will show all active connections and allow you to add additional connections or delete existing ones.
